Alright so let’s talk about how to make money on YouTube with a small channel in this year.

Okay so everyone knows that if you have a big channel with millions of views you can earn some decent money on YouTube but most of the people here on YouTube simply don’t have a large audience. And yeah in my opinion it’s not a big deal to say that you want to earn money because everyone needs money to buy at least gear or accessories for their youtube channel. And that’s why it’s always good to know that there are some practical ways to earn some money here on YouTube even with a small channel. So let’s talk about a few of them.
Adsense
And the first one is of course Adsense. I know a few channels don’t have enough Subscribers or Watch-Time to be in the YouTube Partner Program but as soon as you reach these goals this is one of the easiest methods to earn money here on YouTube. What you need are 1000 Subscribers and 4000 hours of watch-time and right after that YouTube checks your channel and then you can earn money with Ads. Of course it needs a lot of hard work and patience to reach these millstones but in my opinion it’s actually worth it because it actually generates money while you are sleeping.

Affiliate Marketing
But of course you can earn money way before that. And I always recommend to use Affiliate Marketing from day one. In case if you don’t know what that is. Affiliate Marketing is a way to earn money by creating links to a website like amazon and whenever someone uses this link you get a commission because you’ve helped to generate traffic and to sell a product. The good part here is no one has to pay more for a product. So it’s a win win situation for everyone. The retailer sells a product, you get a small commission and the buyer gets the product. Again this is something that can generate money all the time and to get started is actually really simple. In most cases you need to sign up for such a program and then you can get started.
And especially if you create videos about products like Reviews, Tutorials or all kind of video topics like that it is even more powerful because people who watch your videos about a certain product are interested in that. And if they like it it is possible that they will use your link to buy it. So even an old video can generate money for you if someone uses the link in your description to buy a product.
Sponsored / Brand Deals
The next tip that I can I’ve you is all about sponsored videos or brand deals. Even though your channel isn’t that big that doesn’t mean that you can’t get any brand deals. The market for micro influencers is growing a lot so it’s up to you if you want to be part of it. You just need to put in the work, create good videos and you have to reach out to brands. Write E-Mails, DMs or try to get in contact with a Marketing Agency. These are the best ways to get some good brand deals even if you have just a couple of followers. Because if your videos are good you have the chance to be picked for such a collaboration. So definitely get in contact with all kind of brands in your niche and even your local brands because this is actually one of the best was to earn some money.
Merchandise
Another great way to earn money is to create Merchandise. Of course if you are just starting out its not good to buy 100 T-Shirts and then try to sell them. But what you can do instead is to use Print-on-demand websites to create your own merchandise and whenever someone buys a T-shirt you get a commission too. You can even create all kind of custom designs and let people buy them online. You simply don’t have to print them in advance which is great. So that’s why I highly recommend to create a few designs and set up your print on demand store with all kind of things and maybe a few people will buy something. So just give it a try.
Create your own Store / Product
But of course there is another great way to earn money and that is to create your own Store and Products. As an example if you are a photographer you can create digital presets for Lightroom and sell them online. Or if you are a Filmmaker you can create a LUT for videos and sell it online. There are a lot of options out there to create products for your specific niche that you can sell online. The only thing that you need to do is to put in the work and then you have to promote your products on your channel. As a good example if you have created a Preset for Lightroom make a video about this Preset and how it actually can help other photographers to get way better images or to achieve a certain style. So use your channel as a promotion platform for your own products to maximize the chance that people will get in contact with your own products and maybe some of them will buy something.
And now here is a quick bonus tip.
Another great way to make some money on YouTube even with a small channel is crowdfunding. There are multiple platforms online like Patreon that can actually help to make some money even if you dont have a large audience. Even just a few people can make a difference here and they always can choose between multiple things that you offer on your page. So you can have a $1 tier or even a $500 tier. It’s fully up to you what kind of stuff you want to do and how much you think someone should pay for it. But in the end this is actually a great way to let people support you even though you are just starting out. What I highly recommend is to check out other creators on Patreon for example (if you want to use that) just to see what they are doing and how they set up their page. Because this can actually help to know whats working and whats not working on this platform.
